Topics
Green factory award

In 2010, the Shiga Works received an award for our outstanding greening performance from Japan Greenery Research and Development Center. This award is given to the facilities that proactively promote greening and greatly contribute to improvement of living environments in the surrounding area.
First-hand experience safety training facilities

Daifuku opened the Anzen-Taikan Dojo facility to enhance safety awareness and eradicate workplace accidents. Trainees learn the importance of safety by simulating the occupational hazards of installation. Not only Daifuku staff but also people from business partners and communities can participate in the session.
Communication Activities

Hini Arata Kan is a comprehensive logistics exhibition site that acts not only as a place for customers to learn about material handling and for employees to receive training but also as a general public space for members of the community to visit.
Hini Arata Kan visitors learn about logistics and the innovative products that are constantly changing the industry.
Contributing to the Community
Donation of Welcab As part of Daifuku's 70th Anniversary festivities, we surveyed our employees about their favorite community charities. As a result, we donated care vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts to the Shiga Works community.
Shiga Works tours for community residents Daifuku invites residents in neighboring areas to tour our Shiga Works campus. The tours will include information about our environmentally friendly activities and production processes. We also hope the tours will cultivate open communication within the communities where we operate.
Cleanup activities at a tourist spot Daifuku regularly maintains and cleans a popular tourist spot, Shakunage-kei (Rhododendron Gorge), near Shiga Works. Our employees also participate in Shiga Prefecture's "Ohmi Eco-Foster System," which includes activities that help protect the local environment. Finally, our employees remove trash from roads near our facilities every month.
Gateball* tournament
Since 1992, we have invited residents near the Shiga Works facility to our gateball competition each year. The tournament is an excellent way for members of the local community to mingle with our employees and enjoy the outdoors together. In 2009, about 200 people took part in the tournament.
*A game invented in Japan, similar to croquet.
Daifuku Hope Elementary School in China In October 2008, an elementary school was built in Inner Mongolia, China, in part with donations from Daifuku. It was named after Daifuku to commemorate the 70th and 5th anniversaries of the establishment of Daifuku and its affiliate Daifuku Shanghai (now Daifuku China) respectively. The school was jointly built with local government, contributing half the construction costs (about 4 million yen).
HR Training System
To facilitate efficient and effective HR training, Daifuku formulated its Basic HR Training Policy and implements systematic and selective measures based on this policy. Training programs are tailored to new employees, mid-level employees and managerial members. The New Business Leader (NBL) Training Program is offered to employees who are expected to be division leaders. In addition, to secure overseas expatriate candidates with international business skills, Daifuku gives a special training under the Global Business Trainee Program.
